Perfume-Concentration-Level

Perfume Concentration Level

There are four concentration levels for fragrances. The price typically increases along with the concentration. High-concentration colognes and perfumes have stronger scents that linger longer. Some people believe the extra expense is worth it.

  • Perfume(parfum)

The ones with the highest concentrations are known as Perfume or Parfum. These fragrances and scents usually last 24 hours, and you don’t need to apply too much. Just a simple spray on the wrist and neck will suffice.

  • Eau De Parfum

If you go one level down, you have the Eau De Pafrum. With this concentration, you expect the scent to last 6-9 hours, depending on the Notes within the perfume in question.

  • Eau De Toilette

Eau De Toilette is the most commonly found perfume concentration. They can be easily found in retail stores. This concentration of perfume is a good option since it is affordable and has a pleasing fragrance. However, they have to be sprayed on multiple times a day. Smells can last from 2-4 hours at max.

  •  Eau De Cologne

These are the lowest concentrated perfumes in the market. They are also the cheapest ones you will find. Eau De Cologne scents usually last between 1-2 hours, and the smell can fade quicker in warmer temperatures.

  • Eau Fraiche

These perfumes are made from a water base, so they typically don’t last long on the skin. However, they are popular among people. To make this fragrance last longer, you can apply it to your clothes. Moreover, the smell fades quickly when out in the sun or windy weather.

The Skin Test

Did you know that each human possesses a distinctive code of pheromones and hormones that can change how a perfume smells on a person?

To get an idea of whether the perfume’s chemical composition complements your body’s composition. Just spray a small amount of the perfume in question on your wrists and wait to see how the smell changes. If it complements your body type, the smell may enhance. And if it does not, then it may diminish or change slightly.
